BID fall promotions and events

Durango Business Improvement District has several events and promotions planned for this fall. Come out and join us!

The North Main District Rewards Program will start in early October and will reward people who shop at North Main District businesses with a gift card. Spend at least $300 at an eligible business, and BID will send a $50 gift card as a reward. Shoppers can submit receipts for purchases on BID’s website, with a minimum purchase of at least $30, and maximum of 10 receipts. Details can be found at downtowndurango.org/north-main-district-rewards.

The fifth Downtown Balloon Glow will take place Oct. 15 on the 500 block of Main Avenue. Seven hot air balloons are planning to attend as part of the Animas Valley Balloon Rally that occurs that same weekend. These balloons will light their burners, creating an amazing sight. Attendees can get up close to the balloons, and there will also be candlesticks participating, which are the basket and burner without the balloon. Kids are allowed to get into the basket with the pilot and can light the burner. The public is invited starting at 6 p.m. Balloons will inflate around 6:30 p.m. and will stay inflated until about 7:30 p.m. This event is weather permitting. Enjoy a unique experience in downtown Durango on Oct. 15.

The Colorado High School Mountain Bike State Championships return to Durango for a third year on Oct. 23 and 24 at Durango Mesa Park. This event brings hundreds of riders from across the state who qualify for the championships during the season. Families, teammates and coaches also attend, which makes for positive economic impact in a slower time of year. BID is the main sponsor of this eventbecause of its impact on BID businesses. BID thanks Gaige Sippy for his work bringing this event to Durango again.

Children’s Halloween is back this year. It always occurs on Halloween day, which is on a Sunday in 2021. Nearly 100 merchants will hand out candy to kids who are 10 and younger, in costume and accompanied by an adult. Join us for this safe and fun Halloween tradition downtown! Go to downtowndurango.org/childrens-halloween for more information.

Singing with Santa is downtown’s holiday kick-off event. Singing with Santa occurs the day after Thanksgiving, which is Nov. 26 this year. Meet at TBK Bank downtown around 5:45 p.m. Santa will arrive at 6 p.m. sharp. Everyone will then follow Santa to Main Avenue and then to Buckley Park, singing Christmas carols along the way. At Buckley Park, the Community Christmas Tree will be lit, then free hot chocolate and cookies will be served. Photos with Santa will also be available. Visit downtowndurango.org/singing-with-santa for more information.

A Holiday Rewards program is also being planned. It will start after Local First’s Noel Night event (Dec. 3) and will run through the holiday shopping season leading up to Christmas. Shoppers who chose to buy their holiday gifts at local businesses will earn a reward in the form of a gift card. Details are being finalized and will be made available soon at downtowndurango.org/holiday-rewards-program.

Join BID this fall at these events and promotions.
