Big Picture classes to be held Monday at DHS

Matt Ralph of Servpro vacuums one of the rooms inside the building that houses Durango Big Picture High School and The Liberty School on Wednesday. Water on the roof made its way inside after a main drainage pipe became blocked.

Classes for Big Picture High School students will be temporarily relocated next week while the building on 12th Street is repaired following a flood earlier this week.

Big Picture students will meet for classes at Durango High School Monday through Wednesday, according to a statement from Durango School District 9-R.

The clean up inside the building on 12th Street will be assessed early next week to help the school officials make decisions about the class schedule in the future.

The flood on the north side of the building damaged carpets, ceiling tiles and floor tiles, said Keith Harlan, owner of ServPro, the company cleaning the building.

It was caused by a main drainage pipe that got blocked and caused many other pipes to back up throughout the building.

Early next week, school officials will hold a parent information meeting to share more details about the incident, according to a school statement.

Big Picture students can take the bus to Durango High School next week. Pick up locations and bus schedules have not changed.
