Big Picture High School graduated 13 seniors Thursday in its eighth graduating class.
Many of the seniors were dedicated to improving the mental health of their peers and other students who share a building with the high school.
Some of the seniors worked as peer leaders for Sources of Strength, a suicide-prevention program meant to encourage healthy habits and teach students how to deal with times of crisis, said Dreher Robertson, assistant principal for the school.
The students also developed strong bonds of friendship compared with past classes, said Melissa Boudreaux, an adviser at the school.
“They are the most supportive of each other as a whole,” she said.
The graduating class includes eight students who plan to attend college, three who plan to take a gap year and two who plan to join the workforce.
