DENVER – Former President Bill Clinton is lending his voice to Colorado’s embattled Democrats.
Clinton canceled an appearance at a Saturday fundraiser for Sen Mark Udall in Denver after the birth of his first grandchild. But the former president called in anyway and tried to boost Udall and Gov. John Hickenlooper by speakerphone. Both Colorado Democrats face tough re-election campaigns.
Clinton said the two men have helped improve Colorado and work across the aisle whenever possible.
Udall faces Republican Rep. Cory Gardner. Hickenlooper is being challenged by former Rep. Bob Beauprez. Polls show both contests are essentially deadlocked.
