As a former director of finance/chief financial officer for a very well-run housing authority, I support Allison Aichele for county treasurer.
I directed a $30 million budget encompassing 25 programs with a staff of five. I have tremendous respect for Ms. Aichele’s ability to manage more than twice the budgetary expenditure amount with the same number of staff persons as I did. The issues mentioned in the annual audit were a “material weakness” in that the audit team did not find sufficient separation of accounting duties. This is a direct result of having only five employees in the department.
Ms. Aichele’s opponent has tried to make the increased cost of the audit a rallying cry in his favor. Well, the increased cost of $12,500 is only .000157 percent of the county’s $79 million dollar expenditures budget.
Mr. Black is my neighbor, unfortunately sharing a common property line. From my experiences with him, he is neither a gentleman rancher, as he would like the citizens of this county to believe, nor is he ethical. He is simply a smooth talker, employed by one of the most corrupt banks in this country, Wells Fargo.
Allison Aichele has my vote.
