On Tuesday and Wednesday, the Bureau of Land Management Tres Rios Field Office will host two open house meetings to share information about route designations for travel management on public lands in Archuleta, La Plata and Montezuma counties.

In 2017, the BLM released its route inventories on an online interactive map for public review. The open houses will serve as a forum to discuss the public’s insight on transportation and access.

“Transportation planning is vital so communities can access and enjoy the trailheads and travel routes on their public lands,” said Connie Clementson, Tres Rios field manager.

As stewards, the BLM manages public lands to benefit current and future generations by supporting conservation through the multiple-use mission.

The information from public input will assist in developing a proposed transportation system and associated trailheads to provide long-term access for hiking, horseback, mechanized and motorized uses within the Tres Rios Field Office.

The Tuesday open house will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Montezuma County Commission Meeting Room, 109 W. Main St., in Cortez. The Wednesday open house will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave., in Durango.
