Board infringed on co-op members’ rights

I am an owner of Durango Natural Foods, our community-owned grocery store. I am one of about 1,800 equal owner-members; all who join become owners of the DNF co-op.

Please take your position in DNF seriously and join or renew your membership. The board, with a secret agenda, has infringed on the rights of member-owners (all of us). The board must be removed. The management style displayed by board members ignores accountability to owner-members and staff. Recently, Kimberly Wiggins, co-general manager, was fired without cause after emailing all members, alerting us to decisions made without our knowledge or vote.

After reading reports of a merger, I began asking questions. A trip to the store gave me few answers. I later learned that staff members have been intimidated by board members who told them not to share information with member-owners. DNF supports local voice, local members and local food. Let’s keep those principles alive for another 40 years.
