After undergoing major repairs, the boat ramp at Navajo State Park is now open to the general public for boat launching.

The boat ramp was resurfaced and extended another 300 feet into the reservoir.

"This will be a huge improvement for our park users," said Doug Secrist, park manager.

Owners of vessels requiring slips or mooring balls should contact the marina office for availability prior to launching. Call: 883-2208, or 883-2628.

The marina dock and fueling facilities should open by the beginning of May.

The Aquatic Nuisance Species inspection station is open and inspectors will be available during the early season from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Boaters are reminded that they must have their boats inspected before launching. Boats should arrive at the inspection station clean, drained and dry. Make sure mud and dirt is removed from all parts of the boat and the engine. The inspection process will go faster for those with clean boats.

A boat will be processed through the inspection station much faster if it has a seal attached, and the owner can present the receipt that proves the boat was inspected at lakes or reservoirs in Colorado, Wyoming or New Mexico that are not suspected of containing any nuisance species.

All camping facilities at the park will be opened by April 15.

Entry to the park costs $7 per vehicle; an annual pass costs $70.
