A healthy Adison Jones and quality play in the trenches spelled a better result for the Bobcats in Week 2.
The Ignacio High School football team went on the road and topped Dolores Huerta 45-12 on Saturday in Pueblo.
Jones, who left last week’s loss to Aspen with an ankle injury, returned and connected with Clayton Jefferson for three touchdown passes and ran for another score.
“He had plenty of time to throw,” IHS head coach Lupe Huerta said. “He was well-protected, and he made some nice throws.”
Wyatt Hayes and Adam Herrera added the rest of Ignacio’s points with a pair of rushing touchdowns.
Huerta was complimentary of his offensive and defensive lines, saying they matched up well against a bulkier Dolores Huerta (1-1) squad.
“The difference was line play,” he said. “The line on both sides, offensive and defensive, played well. ... They had some good size on the line, so I was really impressed with the line on both sides.”
Ignacio (1-1) will host Shiprock at 7 p.m. Friday.
