Ignacio's backcourt firing squad of junior guards Wyatt Hayes and Tucker Ward again proved deadly. The former poured in 17 points and the latter 16 in helping the Bobcats score a season sweep of Mancos, 70-54 Tuesday night on the road.
Senior post Adison Jones played with an injury during the game, but still managed to shoot a team-high 20 points on the Blue Jays. Hayes also added eight rebounds to go along with five assists and four steals in one of his better all-around efforts. The third-ranked IHS Bobcats improved to 7-0 in the 2A/1A San Juan Basin League, and 11-2 overall.
The 'Cats canned seven three-pointers in the win while MHS managed four, and led 19-10 after one quarter and 37-24 at halftime. Jones, minding a battle-weary knee, did collect nine rebounds and five assists. Senior forward Daniel Christiansen scored a game-best 22 points for the Jays (9-5, 5-2 SJBL.)
Up next for Ignacio will be a trip tomorrow to Ouray, an upstart in the circuit this winter which improved to 12-1 overall and 6-1 against all SJBL opposition.
