Adison Jones was all over the place for Ignacio High School in the Bobcats’ 81-53 win over Mancos on Friday night.
Jones scored 19 points, had 11 rebounds and five blocks to lead IHS (16-0, 6-0 San Juan Basin League) with a double-double.
Wyatt Hayes scored 17 and had seven steals and five assists.
“He really got us going with a lot of penetration on his own to the basket,” IHS head coach Chris Valdez said.
Anthony Manzanares scored 11, while Clayton Jefferson and Kelton Richmond both put in 10 to round out the Bobcats’ balanced scoring.
Ignacio led by 36 in the third quarter, then the Bluejays scored 13 consecutive points on their backups to whittle that margin down.
It wasn’t enough to stop Ignacio’s 16-game winning streak, though.
Friday night’s win was the Bobcats’ third in three days after road conditions forced two games to be rescheduled.
They next will play Monticello at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Monticello, Utah.
The Buckaroos are 13-3 this season and ranked third in Class 1A Utah.
“I think we’re ready for it. It’s going to be a quick game,” Valdez said. “They’re going to press us. We’re going to take care of the ball and open up the floor.”
