COLORADO SPRINGS – An investigation is underway after a body was found following a duplex fire in Colorado Springs.
The Gazette reports 36 firefighters battled the fire in the Old Colorado City area for more than 45 minutes late Tuesday night but could not prevent the roof from collapsing. A brush truck also was sent to the scene to prevent large amounts of embers from sparking a wildfire.
The victim’s name and age have not been released.
Fire Capt. Mike Smaldino said investigators do not think arson or any other criminal act was involved. The other resident of the duplex was not home at the time of the blaze, and firefighters were able to rescue a dog from the home.
No other information has been released.
