La Plata County Sheriff’s Office is seeking information related to a homicide investigation from residents living on or near County Road 204 and County Road 205 northwest of Durango.
Law enforcement launched an investigation Saturday afternoon into a possible homicide in the area – the Sheriff’s Office found one body but declined to identify it or give details about where it was found, said investigator Jim Hendricks.
Anyone with surveillance recordings from cameras facing either County Road 204 or County Road 205 from Oct. 15 to Oct. 19 is encouraged to call the Sheriff’s Office at 382-7018. Investigators are also interested in speaking with anyone who hiked at a trail head in the 7000 block of County Road 205 – Hendricks declined to specify the location further.
The homicide investigation launched sometime between 3 and 4 p.m. Saturday, he said. Law enforcement was unsure around 5 p.m. when the alleged homicide may have happened – it was likely within the past week, Hendricks said.
It is unclear what law enforcement is seeking to learn from residents.
