Lauren Graham TV series: TV star turned author Lauren Graham (best known for roles in “Gilmore Girls” and “Parenthood”) has inked a deal with Warner Bros. TV and Ellen DeGeneres’ production company to turn her debut novel into a TV series. The book, Someday, Someday, Maybe, follows a young woman trying to become an actress in New York City.

New Sue Monk Kidd: The author of the best-selling The Secret Life of Bees is working on a new novel. Titled The Invention of Wings (Viking) it follows the story of Hetty ‘Handful’ Grimke, a slave in the early 19th century who dreams of living a different life. Wings will flutter onto bookshelves on Jan. 7, 2014.

New “Hobbit” trailer: The adventures of Bilbo Baggins continue. Warner Bros. has released the trailer for “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” the second film in Peter Jackson’s epic trilogy. The second film follows titular hobbit Bilbo Baggins as he sets off to reclaim the Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. It’s an action-packed trailer and offers the first glimpse of Smaug, a menacing dragon played by Benedict Cumberbatch.

Amy Poehler and Judy Blume: By now it’s no secret that Amy Poehler is hilarious. However, fans might not know that she harbors a sweet spot for young adult author Judy Blume. The comedian did an interview with Vulture where she spoke about all things Blume, sharing “I’m a sucker for Are You There God?“

Choose your own adventure: What if you could choose the end of a movie? 20th Century Fox is aiming to do just that, on the cusp of closing a deal on the Choose Your Own Adventure book franchise, a series that lets the reader pick how the story ends.

Comic books for the blind: For the blind, reading a comic book is almost an impossibility. However, Phillipp Meyer, a Copenhagen-based interaction designer, is setting out to change that. He has created the first comic book for the blind, titled Life. Each page of the book is stark white, but covered in Braille, telling the story of two characters who meet, fall in love and have a child.
