Botanical society thanks attendees, donors

Durango Botanical Society’s Member and Community Appreciation Party last weekend exceeded our expectations.

Thanks to the DBS docents and volunteers for helping make this event a success. There was a formal graduation of 10 new docents, a dedication of the Mountain Thyme Herb Society’s Sundial, participation by the “Rosie the Riveter” organization, and we were especially pleased to dedicate a portion of the new Arboreta as the Cindy Smart Miniature Tree Garden.

Of course, an event of this scope cannot be successful without donations. A very big thank you to: Albertsons, Ann Bauer, Annette LeMaire, Bett Clark and Chris Gerding, Betty Kibby, Botanical Concepts, Christ the King Lutheran Church, Clark Palmer, Coca-Cola Corporation, Durango Nursery, Durango Public Library, Eva Montane, Hollis Hassenstein and Rick Quinn, Janet Kenna, Lisa Bourey, Mountain Thyme Herb Society, Nature’s Oasis, Susan Ostendorp, Smart Enterprises, Thomas Kettlecorn, David Temple and Woodhouse Spa.

The Durango community continues to be very generous in its support of public gardens, and DBS is very grateful. Please visit www.durangobotanicalsociety.com to view a slide show of the party activities and stay tuned for future events and new garden plans.
