Boycott band with demeaning name

For those of you looking forward to hearing Cherry Poppin’ Daddies at the Fort Lewis Concert Hall this Thursday, Dec. 20, perhaps you could think again.

When the band came up with their name in the late ’80s, I’m sure it seemed funny at the time... though it really wasn’t.

The name of their band roughly translates as “Men Who Rape Their Daughters.”

A name that is so degrading to women is akin to calling your band The Lynch Mob.

The first part of the name implies they are exploitative jerks, but adding the “Daddy” takes it to a violent, disturbing level. I can’t imagine that this hasn’t been brought to their attention.

In this late year of 2018, it’s surprising that this demeaning, belittling band name still exists.

Please consider sending them the message that their distasteful name will not be tolerated by women and men today. Let them know, don’t go.

Don’t support them. Tell the Concert Hall to refrain from booking them, and KSUT to refuse to advertise for them.
