Brookie is a thoughtful mentor and leader

In my four years in Durango, I have known Dean Brookie to be a thoughtful visionary, a diligent person, professional mentor and an empowering leader.

This election season, my endorsement for Dean’s re-election, is the least I can do to showcase my appreciation for his positive impact on me and many others.

As a proponent of Durango’s creative and beneficial growth, I trust Dean most to lead our community in this endeavor. Dean’s vision for Durango is not Dean’s alone. It comes from countless conversations, observations, and insights that I have witnessed firsthand as an employee of his.

His expertise with community planning, and sustainable development, coupled with his unconditional care for the Durango community’s unique needs gives me full confidence that we, with Dean’s leadership, can progress into the future in a healthy and just fashion.

As a young citizen of Durango with a BS Engineering degree from Fort Lewis College, a family living here, and aspirations to start a small business in town, I am aware of the circumstances in Durango that can make it difficult to live comfortably.

I have discussed these challenges with Dean, such as affordable housing, economic growth opportunities, and access to rural public transit. I know that Dean brings these considerations of our neighborhoods, businesses and community to his work as a public servant, with gracious humility.

For these reasons, I compel the voters of Durango to re-elect Dean Brookie to our city council for a second term.
