Helping campaign for Dean Brookie this election has been my honor. I proudly offer my endorsement for his re-election to Durango City Council.
I value Dean’s history of volunteering, community planning and sustainable development experience. With over 30 years experience as an architect and small business owner, Dean is equipped to solve Durango’s challenges and address the unique needs of our neighborhoods and affordable housing, economic development, public transit, homelessness and open space preservation.
As Mayor during the Gold King Mine Spill, Dean demonstrated that he will roll up his sleeves and get to work for our community. He successfully engaged with all levels of government to coordinate an immediate and effective response to address the disaster. His website, brookieforcouncil.com, gives the details of his efforts that were instrumental in securing the funding our community needed to begin recovery.
Dean has the same commitment to help Durango retain its young working class. We seek opportunity to live in Durango but are often turned away by the lack of affordable housing and viable jobs. Dean understands this and is working tirelessly to develop more opportunity for our community.
The reason I urge a vote for him is that he’s the kind of thoughtful individual we need to lead at the local, state and national level – an honest representative eager to achieve our shared vision for Durango’s future.
