I am endorsing Dean Brookie, Melissa Youssef, and Chris Bettin for Durango City Council.
I have known Dean for several years through his support for the Boy Scouts of America, as a member of the Board of Directors of the Durango Adult Education Center, and his service to the community as a Rotarian.
He is honest, trustworthy, intelligent, friendly, a hard worker, and committed to serving the citizens of Durango. We are fortunate he is willing to serve a second term.
I got to know Melissa while serving as interim Director of Finance for Durango School District 9-R. She was a member of the school board and I found her service to be exemplary. She was an excellent board member, always prepared and clearly dedicated to making 9-R an excellent school district. I am confident of similar excellent service as a city councilor.
I have not had the privilege of knowing Chris as long or as well as Dean or Melissa, but I do believe he is skillful, intelligent, focused and dedicated to Durango. His positive attitude and belief that Durango’s best days are ahead will make him an excellent councilor
