It seems like every year, spurred by radical groups, the same misguided question arises: Why can’t women be trusted to take care of their own health interests? This personal overreach by extreme groups does not just happen on the Front Range or in Washington, it happens here in Southwest Colorado, where we have a candidate for state representative who believes he knows what is best for us and our health. That candidate is J. Paul Brown, who supports the Personhood Amendment – a measure so extreme it would ban even some common forms of birth control.
Even though he claims to support limited government, J. Paul believes that elected officials are more qualified to make life-altering health decisions than individuals in consultation with their medical professionals. Mike McLachlan is a strong defender of women’s rights. As Colorado’s solicitor general, he successfully argued Woman Health Care Shield Law in front of the U.S. Supreme Court, protecting women’s access to health clinics. As our state representative, he has continued to stand up for the rights of women. Please join us in supporting Mike McLachlan for state representative and rejecting J. Paul Brown’s attempts to control the health-care decisions of women in our state.
