Buddhist snowboarder for U.S. Senate

As Colorado voters consider the complex ballot before us this November, there is one outstanding candidate running for the U.S. Senate who is worth your support. His name is Arn Menconi.

Menconi has a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Denver, was a two-term Eagle County commissioner, is father of two pre-teen children and is a self-proclaimed “Buddhist snowboarder.”

In 1993, Menconi started Snowboard Outreach Society to benefit at-risk kids. SOS was so successful, in 2009, it merged with Meet the Wilderness.

Menconi is running for the Senate on a platform in opposition to the endless cycle of wars that are draining the life from essential people programs and contributing to a $20 trillion national debt. He opposes fracking in favor of renewable energy and opposes the Trans Pacific Partnership, which will destroy our national sovereignty as it rewrites rules of the global economy. Sen. Michael Bennet, his opponent, has voted in favor of every military and defense budget, supports the environmentally destructive fracking industry and supported a fast-track Senate vote on the TPP. In addition, Menconi supports ColoradoCare, which will bring a universal Medicare-for-all health care system to all Colorado citizens, while Bennet opposes it.

Reportedly worth up to $25 million, Bennet serves on the Senate Finance Committee, with an estimated 80 percent of his campaign funds coming from out-of-state corporate, banking and investment firms, including Goldman Sachs and big pharma/health insurance companies. Menconi supports reinstating the Glass-Steagall Act, a tax on Wall Street speculation and debt forgiveness for student loans.

Once a registered Democrat, Menconi is running on the Green Party ticket since, sadly, the Democratic Party can no longer be considered the “conscience of the people” as it was during the 1930s. It can also no longer be counted on to support a true-blue progressive agenda of peace, justice and prosperity.

Menconi believes that this Senate race is about voting your conscience rather than feeling pressured to maintain a failed, stale partisan status quo.

Please join me in supporting Arn Menconi for U.S. Senate.
