Build homes right the first time

The recent bills regarding construction defects are probably written by the construction industry’s and developers’ lobbyists. The long-term answer is to build right the first time. No leaky roofs. No foundation cracks. Rivergate was sliding into the river. Does anyone think the developer would ever have offered $26.4 million for proper repairs before being sued? If builders and developers are being hit with increased insurance costs then the good ones – who have never faced a lawsuit – should be policing the bad ones, like the ones who built Rivergate.

Don’t push the responsibility to hold down costs onto homeowners and limit their ability to be repaid for shoddy construction. Build it right the first time, and this issue will eventually disappear.
