Bus service to and from Farmington is needed

Any locals who have an interest in theater may be familiar with the outdoor performances at Sandstone in Farmington. There is also a new professional musical theater company at the Farmington Civic Center run by the same director who is now in charge of Sandstone.

In February 2020, I had the opportunity to perform in the new musical theater company’s second production at the civic center. I don’t drive, so my dad drove me to the rehearsals and performances each day from Durango to Farmington and back. It was one of the best theater experiences I had ever had and I couldn’t wait to perform with them again!

In January 2021, my dad passed away. The world is now opening back up, as we’ve been emerging from COVID-19 restrictions, and with it, theater is slowly returning. Except that theater is returning in a world in which I no longer have my dad. Not only did I lose my dad, but I was also cut off from opportunities, because I still don’t drive and I won’t be able to drive.

I want to do theater in Farmington again, but I no longer have a way to get there. The solution for my situation – and I’m sure others have their own situations with the same solution – is regular bus service to and from Farmington. We need to find a way to implement regular bus service from Durango to Farmington and from Farmington to Durango, which would benefit locals and even tourists.
