The office of Dr. Douglas E. Miller announces it is now Summit Psychology, Dr. Douglas E. Miller and Associates. The mental-health practice offers three providers, including Miller, a licensed psychologist, and registered psychotherapists Jennie Albert and Emily Ragsdale.

Commissioner Lachelt appointed to committee
The president of the National Association of Counties announces the appointment of La Plata County Commissioner Gwen Lachelt to the association’s Environment, Energy and Land Use Steering Committee.
The committee is involved in all matters pertaining to air, water, energy and land use. Members help establish goals and policy priorities of the association and meet to hear federal legislative and policy updates, discuss best practices and innovation, and advise the board of directors and voting delegates who set policy for the coming year.
Lachelt also serves on the Southwest Colorado Workforce Development Board, the Durango Public Library Board and the Housing Solutions for the Southwest Board. She was appointed by Gov. John Hickenlooper to the Colorado Emergency Planning Commission.

La Plata Electric announces new hire
Donna Arriza has been selected as a new customer service representative at La Plata Electric Association.
Based at LPEA’s headquarters in Bodo Industrial Park, Arriza works with LPEA customers on billing issues, new accounts and the cooperative’s various products and services.
Arriza comes to LPEA from the La Plata County Clerk’s Office, where she oversaw coordination of county elections, including LPEA’s board of director elections. She joined the county staff nearly eight years ago, initially handling customer information.

Serious Delights Bakehouse welcomes Rob Quinlan to the bakery.
Quinlan has 15 years of experience in the baking and food-service industry, including time as a head baker in Maryland and Alaska. Human resource managers to meet
The Durango Area Human Resource Managers will offer a special luncheon from noon to 1 p.m. Friday at Ska Brewing, 225 Girard St. in Bodo Industrial Park.
This luncheon will feature roundtable discussions about on-boarding new employees, recruitment tools, social networking and employee classification.
The cost is $12 for members and $14 for nonmembers, which includes choice of grilled cheese and green apple; Cubano, slow-cooked pork; and applewood smoked turkey. Soups will include chicken and andouille gumbo and lentil, mushroom and sweet potato.
