Pet grooming offered at Creature Comforts
Stacy Meyer is opening a pet-grooming business, Colorado Critter Clips, inside Creature Comforts at Centennial Center, 305 S. Camino del Rio, Suite O.
Meyer, the owner and stylist, is a Durango native and has 15 years of pet-grooming experience. Colorado Critter Clips offers grooming services with attention to detail, and the dog’s safety and comfort in mind. Her extensive work grooming animals in boarding kennels, pet rescues and grooming shops has given her a great deal of experience. Meyer is knowledgeable and friendly, and will offer tips and advice as to what grooming supplies and techniques work best for a pet.

LPEA announces new engineering clerk
Carolyn Foster has joined the engineering team at La Plata Electric Association as engineering clerk, filling the position vacated by Dennis Baxter, who has retired.
As engineering clerk, Foster is the first point of contact for members and contractors initiating new construction projects or seeking changes to existing electric infrastructure. Based at LPEA’s headquarters in Bodo Industrial Park, she oversees project coordination from concept to the start of construction. Foster, who grew up in a military family and has lived throughout the world, is also a veteran of the Army Reserves, where she achieved the rank of sergeant and served in psychological operations. A graduate in liberal studies from San Diego State University, Foster worked for seven years with San Diego Gas & Electric.

Childhood council announces new hire
Early Childhood Council of La Plata County welcomes Sara McVaugh, as the new health integration coordinator.
McVaugh’s role is to better integrate health and mental health into local early childhood systems as a means of improving children’s access to health care for children. She has extensive education and training in the field including a degree in occupational therapy from Colorado State University, coursework in teamwork, consultation and leadership, practicum experience with Project Enrich (an early intervention program), Pyramid Plus Approach training, and, currently, she is becoming a certified Pyramid Plus coach. She is working with teachers who have gone through this training to provide direct coaching in the classroom to increase fidelity of implementation of the Pyramid Plus Approach. She is a pediatric occupational therapist for children to age 5 with developmental delays and works directly with children, their parents and caregivers in a variety of settings.

Drew VerHaar joins Rivergate PT
Rivergate Physical Therapy announces the addition of Drew VerHaar.
VerHaar was born and raised in Farmington. He started his career as an automotive technician with an associate’s degree from San Juan College. In 2006, he attended Arizona School of Massage Therapy in Tempe, Ariz., and graduated in 2007 from the school’s Master Body Worker Program. After graduating, he returned to the school to work as an adjunct instructor and instructor’s assistant. Verhaar graduated from San Juan College in 2012, as a physical therapist’s assistant with an associate’s degree. He has been working in Farmington at an outpatient clinic. He has worked with back injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, balance, stability and strength training. VerHaar has training in numerous techniques and modalities and specializes in manual therapy and trigger point therapy.
