Groundbreaking ceremony to be held
Buena Vista Builders Inc. announces the groundbreaking ceremony for Roger and Christine Sterling’s new Southwest Appliance facility at 10 a.m. Wednesday at 21 Davidson Creek Road, in the Rancho Vedado subdivision next to the Three Springs subdivision just off U.S. Highway 160.
Leading the groundbreaking will be Bob Smith, president and owner of Buena Vista Builders Inc., general contractor for the project, in conjunction with Tom Umbhau of Bauen Group Architects, and First National Bank of Durango. Starting a business workshop offered
The Southwest Colorado Small Business Development Center and 1st SouthWest Bank will sponsor the workshop, Starting Your Business, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Durango Public Library Program Room, 1900 East Third Ave.
This course is designed to help people navigate through the steps needed to start a successful business. Presenters will include a small-business specialist, marketing expert, small-business banker, an attorney and an accountant. Topics will include: Business planning, legal structure, taxes, marketing and market research and finance options. The fee for the workshop is $25 or $20 for Chamber of Commerce members.

Alpine Bank president appointed to board
Alpine Bank Vice Chairman and President Glen Jammaron was appointed by Gov. John Hickenlooper to serve as a representative for bankers west of the Continental Divide on the Colorado Banking Board.
The Colorado Banking Board is the policy-making and rule-making authority for the Division of Banking. Jammaron is a 30-year veteran with Alpine Bank, having joined the bank in 1985 upon graduating from Western State College. He has served a wide variety of executive positions, including branch president, head of central operations and as a long-term board member.
The nine-member, governor-appointed Colorado State Banking Board consists of five members who are executive officers of commercial banks, an executive officer of a trust company, an executive officer of a money transmitter business, and two public members who possess expertise in finance through their current experience in business, industry, agriculture or education.

Engineering firm adds to its team
Jenna Delwiche has joined the Russell Planning & Engineering team.
Delwiche received her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering: bio-resources in May 2014 from Montana State University. After graduating, she spent two summers as a raft guide outside Yellowstone National Park. She is excited to now be a part of the Russell team as a Design Engineer I.
