Southwest Midwives hires practitioner

Southwest Midwives would like to welcome Rebecca Dworkin to the practice.

Dworkin earned her first bachelor’s degree from Grinnell College, then received a bachelor’s and master’s in nursing at Georgetown University.

As a midwifery student, she gained experience with births in hospitals, birth centers and home birth settings.

Dworkin began her midwifery career in 2012 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She served on the faculty as a clinical assistant professor.

Dworkin is currently accepting new patients for midwifery and women’s health care.

Pura Vida announces new psychiatric NP

Pura Vida Healthcare welcomes psychiatric nurse practitioner Susan Russo to its holistic cooperative.

With over 20 years of experience, Russo is board certified and authorized to write prescriptions. She sees patients of all ages and works with all mental health issues. Russo blends Western psychiatric care with naturopathic medicine.

Chamber to honor members with party

The Durango Chamber of Commerce will hold its 5th Annual Membership Appreciation Party from 5-7 p.m. Sept. 8 at Santa Rita Park, 111 South Camino del Rio.

The Chamber’s Board of Directors and staff would like to thank members for their continuing contributions.

There will be a complimentary BBQ, beer and wine available.

New journeyman linemen join LPEA

Journeyman Linemen Brandon DeBates and Joshua Puterbaugh have joined the La Plata Electric Association Operations Department.

Originally from Sisters, Oregon, DeBates moved to the area in 2003. Prior to joining LPEA, he served as a contractor throughout the state and entered the journeyman lineman apprentice program with Mountain States Electric.

Puterbaugh, from Pennsylvania, worked for the Pennsylvania Power and Light Co. for 18 years. With family in Colorado, Puterbaugh moved west to join LPEA.

DeBates and Puterbaugh are based at LPEA’s Durango headquarters.

Economic planning to be discussed

Region 9 Southwest Economic Development will be a topic at Coffee at Carver’s from 7:45-9 a.m. Sept. 6 at Carver Brewing Co., 1022 Main Ave.

Breakfast is available (dutch treat) and attendees receive a free cup of coffee.
