Good Dirt Radio receives grants

Good Dirt Radio, a Durango-based environmental news-media organization, recently received grants from the New York-based Norcross Wildlife Foundation and the La Plata Electric Association.

Norcross Wildlife Foundation granted Good Dirt Radio $1,500 to upgrade its website from a 10-year-old platform to a more user-friendly, interactive site. The website is the main portal for individuals and for radio-station personnel to hear and download free the organization’s five-minute eco-spots that report stories about people helping to solve environmental challenges.

La Plata Electric Association granted Good Dirt Radio $1,500 to support an internship project in association with Fort Lewis College Environmental Center. Two FLC students and environmental studies majors, Jeremy Taylor and Stephen Witherspoon, were hired as interns for the fall semester. The FLC seniors are learning about positive environmental-media reporting while helping Good Dirt Radio expand its audience and increase its impact.
