Yamuna Body Rolling practice opens
Katie Marechal announces the opening of Yamuna Body Rolling by Katie Marechal.
The practice is at 128 W. 14th St., Suite B-7 in the Riverfront Building. Marechal also offers group classes at the Smiley Building and Inhabit.
Marechal is a board-certified massage therapist and is one of five certified Yamuna Body Rolling instructors in the state. Yamuna Body Rolling is practiced on 6- to 10-inch balls that stimulate bones, release tendons and then stretch the muscles, educating them to take up their optimal space.
Private sessions are available Monday to Friday. Two ongoing group classes are available from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays at the Smiley Building in Studio 10 and from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesdays in the library at Inhabit.

Anytime Fitness offers weight-loss challenge
Anytime Fitness Durango, 125 Mercado St. Suite 115, will offer a 12-week weight-loss challenge.
Participants need to register by Jan. 16. The first weigh-in will take place Jan. 19, and the last weigh-in will be April 6, with weekly weigh-ins every Monday in-between. The grand prize is $1,000 and a trip for two to Las Vegas.

Programs remain Enterprise Zones
Thirty area organizations have been recertified as Enterprise Zone Contribution Projects by the Colorado Economic Development Commission. This designation allows donations made to these organizations’ projects eligible for a 25 percent state tax credit on cash donations and a 12.5 percent state tax credit on in-kind donations.
Organizations include: the Bridge Emergency Shelter, La Plata Economic Development Alliance, the Four Corners Film Office, Housing Solutions for the Southwest and Axis Health Systems. There are five projects in Archuleta County, one in Dolores, six in Montezuma, one in San Juan and three regional projects, with the remaining in La Plata County.

New law firm forms in Durango
Gail C. Harriss announces that Tina M. Martinez has become a partner in her law firm, and the firm has changed its name to Harriss & Martinez, LLC.
The firm will continue to represent individuals in workers’ compensation claims and Social Security disability claims.
Harriss has been representing injured workers and disabled individuals in Southwest Colorado for more than 27 years.
Martinez also will represent individuals in workers’ compensation and Social Security disability claims. She has been practicing law for more than eight years. Most recently, she has worked as a deputy district attorney in La Plata County.

Forest Service to host procurement fair
The U.S. Forest Service and Colorado Procurement Technical Assistance Center will hold a Procurement Fair for area small businesses interested in providing construction and facilities-maintenance services, in addition for businesses providing services for wildland-firefighting efforts, for the San Juan National Forest.
Two free workshops will be held on Jan. 15. One from 9:30 to 11 a.m. for construction and service vendors and one from 2 to 4 p.m. for wildland fire vendors at the San Juan Public Lands Center, 15 Burnett Court. Small businesses currently doing business or wanting to do business with the Forest Service are invited. Topics will include how to register and do business with the Forest Service and how to be responsive to solicitations. The fire fair will provide updates on regulations, contracts, the ordering and payment process, and types of services needed to support crews.

La Plata Electric announces new hire
Journeyman lineman Dustin Sitterding has joined the operations team at La Plata Electric Association.
Linemen are responsible for constructing and maintaining electric power transmission and distribution lines and facilities.
Originally from Columbus, Indiana, Sitterding enlisted in the Marines upon graduation from high school, and spent four years in the Marine Corps infantry. Stationed out of Camp Pendleton, California, he saw two deployments: the South Pacific and Iraq. Sitterding began studies at Indiana University, but entered the four-year lineman apprentice program at Duke Energy, topping out as a line specialist and earning his journeyman lineman in 2013. He also completed his college degree at Indiana University. Sitterding is part of the line crews based in LPEA’s Durango office.
