Investment program available to doctors
The Medical Doctor Investment Consortium announces a commercial real estate investment program exclusively for medical doctors.
The Durango consortium provides the means for doctors to invest in local income-producing property as a part of a well-diversified investment strategy. The program’s manager coordinates a group of local professionals in the disciplines of law, accounting and tax, banking and property management making the goal of local real estate acquisition and management achievable for medical practitioners. An introductory meeting for doctors and their spouses will be held at 6 p.m. March 6 at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave., with additional details to be announced shortly.

Assisted living facility names administrator
Erin Youngblood announces her new position as administrator of Evening’s Porch.
Evening’s Porch, scheduled to open in fall 2014, is in Bayfield. The staff will serve up to 16 elderly clients in a residential setting. Youngblood has lived in La Plata County for more than 16 years and has extensive experience working with seniors, caregivers and families. Her involvement in the community has included roles with Leadership La Plata, Adult Day Care at Our Place, Senior Services, La Plata Family Center Coalition and most recently assisting in the implementation of the 2014 annual Senior Caregiver Conference, scheduled for March 14.

First National announces new hires
First National Bank of Durango announces these new hires:
Ashley Johnson is a new teller for the main branch. She was raised in Durango and graduated from Durango High School in 2013. She worked for Steamworks Brewing Company for a couple of years before joining the bank.
Caitlin Callahan is a new teller at the main branch. She is from Chicago and attended Western Illinois University and Fort Lewis College for a couple of years. Callahan was previously working at Subway. She has lived in Durango for a year.

Chamber to host Eggs & Issues event
The Durango Chamber of Commerce will present an Eggs & Issues event titled “What’s Up in Western Colorado: A Club 20 Update” at 8 a.m. Thursday at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.
Club 20 is a nonpartisan coalition with individual, business and local government members from 22 counties on the Western Slope working to develop polices positively promoting Western Colorado. The event will cover Club 20 advocacy efforts; how to keep on top of issues critical to the Western Slope; how to help shape the future of Western Colorado; and a question-and-answer session and discussion. The cost is $16 for chamber members and $21 for nonmembers.

Tiffany Parker named association’s president
Tiffany Parker, La Plata County clerk and recorder, has been presented as the 2014 Colorado Clerk’s Association president-elect at this year’s Winter Conference in Pueblo.
She is a fifth-generation Coloradan and began her service in county government in April 1996 in Bend, Ore., working for the Deschutes County clerk and recorder. In the following years, she worked her way through the ranks to serve as elections technician, administrative assistant and chief deputy.
In August 2009 she returned to Durango and worked for the La Plata County clerk and recorder as an elections technician until she ran for office in 2010 and was elected La Plata County’s clerk and recorder. She became a member of the CCCA in the same year and was elected to serve on the executive board January of 2013.
VoterResponse program available for use
VoterResponse is now active and available for use.
This online service was developed with a focus on providing an easy and affordable way to allow anyone to instantly send a message to their elected officials in Washington. The website includes a simple editor for creating a message and then selecting from a list of elected officials who are to be contacted. With a click of a mouse, the same message can be faxed to everyone on the contact list. The service works from a computer, tablet or smartphone and includes links to the websites and phone numbers of all U.S. senators, representatives and the president.
The author of the program is Randy Feuilly, who also owns Feuilly & Associates. The service is available at www.VoterResponse.com and registration for the site is free. During February, users also will be issued credits to send their first five fax pages for free. Users may then purchase credits for sending additional messages at any time. Feuilly & Associates plans to make this software available to political and advocacy groups nationwide.
