Know Your Dough receives grant
Know Your Dough, a local nonprofit providing financial literacy for youth and young adults is the recipient of a Cornerstone Grant through the Community Foundation.
The $1,000 award will be used to meet the cost of financial literacy programs at Durango High School.

Silverton Mountain Ski Area hires COO
Aaron Brill, founder and CEO of Silverton Mountain Ski Area and Silverton Mountain Guides Alaska Heli, announces that Tim Petrick will join the company as chief operating officer with the kickoff of the 2015-2016 season.
Petrick continues his career in the ski industry, most recently serving as president and CEO of K2 Sports. A longtime leader in the snowsports industry, Petrick has spent the majority of his career in executive-level positions for companies including Powder Magazine, Rossignol, K2 Sports and Booth Creek Resorts. Now, skiing as an ambassador for K2 and stepping into his role at Silverton Mountain, Petrick is getting back to his roots on the snow.

Carver’s donation goes to Powerhouse
Carver Brewing Co. announces it will provide a matching donation to the Powerhouse Science Center.
For every $100 and above donated, Carver will match dollar for dollar up to $10,000. To donate, visit http://powsci.org/supportus/donate. Donations will be used to assist with the recent merger of the Durango MakerLab classes into the Powerhouse educational programs. To date, Carver Brewing Co. and the Carver family have donated more than $550,000 to the Powerhouse through annual donations and community events.
A presentation concerning the Powerhouse’s educational programs and the Maker Culture program will take place at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Powerhouse, 1333 Camino del Rio.

Call open for arts, culture grants
The Durango Arts Center is accepting requests for funding of 2016 nonprofit arts and culture programs, made possible by the city of Durango’s Arts & Culture Block Grant.
This grant is administered by the Durango Arts Center. The deadline for application is Jan. 18. The city of Durango’s Arts & Culture Block Grant will distribute a total of $10,000 to local arts and culture nonprofits.
To be eligible for funding consideration, applicants must hold a 501(c)3 (or fiscally sponsored) designation, having operated in good financial standing for three years within the Durango city limits. Grant funds are reimbursable upon successful completion of program, and funds must be matched by the organization.

Durango fire district receives recognition
The Durango Fire Protection District announces that the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting has been awarded to Eric Baker, financial director of the district, by the Government Finance Officers Association for its comprehensive annual financial reporting.
The certificate of achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
Massage therapist offers new treatment
Katie Marechal, nationally certified massage therapist and registered massage therapist, announces she has added to her Yamuna Body Rolling knowledge and now offers Yamuna Table Treatment.
