Home builders to hear about contract liens

The Home Builders Association of Southwest Colorado and First National Bank of Durango will host “Contract Lien Law” with Tonya Wales from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. March 16.

This class will cover terms to include in contracts, practical steps in avoiding collection issues and step-by-step process of enforcing a lien. The costs are $10 for members and $20 for nonmembers; a light breakfast will be included. Registration is required by emailing office@hbasc.com or by calling 382-0082. LED-information session to be offered March 23

Continuing its Free Information Series designed to help co-op members understand the new lighting technology and save energy, La Plata Electric Association will host an updated “Lunch & Lights” workshop from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 23 at First Southwest Bank, 249 Navajo Trail Drive, Pagosa Springs.

All those interested in learning more about LED (light-emitting diode) lamps and more are invited to attend. Lunch will be served.

Examples of the energy and dollars members can save when replacing bulbs with LEDs, as well as a review of LPEA’s lighting rebates for both residents and businesses, which help make lighting change more cost-effective, will be offered. Local retailers also hope to be in attendance to discuss the LED availability in Archuleta County.

Because lunch will be served, those interested in attending are asked to RSVP.

Consulting firm hires new full-charge bookkeeper

Sandi Hoselton has joined FredrickZink & Associates, an accounting, tax and business consulting firm in Durango, as a full-charge bookkeeper. She will concentrate in the areas of client payroll and monthly accounting services.

A native of Eugene, Oregon, Hoselton has nearly 20 years of combined experience in accounting, bookkeeping, tax and audit preparation. After graduating from University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, she worked for the largest CPA firm in Eugene. Hoselton recently relocated to Durango, from her most recent position as the controller of a family-owned construction business. She was responsible for general ledgers, AP/AR, payroll, financial reporting and statements and other financial duties.

Professional Land Surveyors meeting to be held Tuesday

The Southwest Chapter of the Professional Land Surveyors of Colorado will host a chapter meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in the Eolus Room at the Durango Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.

The guest speaker, Mike Boeckman of the Bureau of Land Management, will speak on The Federal Surveyor and the Acceptance of Local Controlling Monuments.

San Juan Basin adds to its team

San Juan Basin Health has hired the following people recently:

Jennifer Murphy will be an administrative and clinic assistant. She grew up in Durango but recently relocated from San Diego.

Angela Romero will be the sexual health and immunizations clinic coordinator. She comes with experience as a medical assistant in a suboxone clinic, a penitentiary and a school health center. Romero will assist in daily operations of the clinic, client care and education.

Becky Wilmer joins the Administrative Services Division as the executive assistant and clerk to the board of health. She has lived in Bayfield since 1986 and graduated from Fort Lewis College with a degree in business administration. Along with running her own advertising business for seven years, she brings a wealth of knowledge in the administrative and sales fields.

Namaste Health Center announces 3 new hires

Namaste Health Center, 1800 East Third Ave., Suite 112, announces the following new hires:

Molly Gibson is a licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist. She is a graduate from the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Gibson uses Chinese medicine to assist people with post-chemo-therapy support, chronic headaches, digestive complaints, multiple sclerosis, menstruation, sleep problems and more.

Andrea Rossi is a nutrition therapist providing clinical nutritional therapeutic support for the whole family. She graduated from the Nutrition Therapy Institute in Denver and specializes in nutrition for oncology clients, hormonal imbalances and digestive imbalances.

Rodney Russell is a chiropractor who graduated with a Doctorate of Chiropractic from Parker University College of Chiropractic in 1997. Russell assists the body in healing naturally by removing biochemical, structural, emotional, spiritual and energetic interferences.

Massage therapist to complete academy

Mary Anne Olszewski, licensed massage therapist and energy medicine practitioner, recently completed a 200-hour Intensive Meditation Academy using the S.E.E.D. Method from the McLean Meditation Institute.

She will offer different levels of meditation classes at Pura Vida Healthcare and in the community.

The Tech-Knowledge Conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 16 at the DoubleTree, 501 Camino del Rio.

Registration and continental breakfast is from 8 to 8:30 p.m. The welcome and introductions are from 8:30 to 9 a.m. Cost for chamber members is $65; for nonmembers, it is $95.
