Lunch and Learn to be held July 24

Durango Chamber of Commerce will host a Lunch and Learn called “We’re Not Your Grandma’s Library!” presented by Donna Arment, business librarian at Durango Public Library, at noon July 24 at First National Bank of Durango, 259 W. Ninth St.

The cost is $10 for chamber members and $20 for nonmembers. Arment will discuss what’s new at the library, how to increase customer base with databases, keep employees up-to-date with workshops, learn about online resources and how they can save time, business resources that are available 24/7 and preview upcoming workshops. Reservations are required.

Tutoring business adds instructor

Jennie Akers, M.Ed. has joined Mumbling Marmot Tutoring LLC, specializing in kindergarten to 12th-grade academic coaching, reading, writing, math, science, test preparation, study skills and cognitive training.

Akers has a master’s degree in special education with kindergarten to 12th-grade credentials from Utah State University.

Mumbling Marmot provides private tutoring services in reading, writing and math kindergarten to college; test preparation; learning differences; languages; economics; study skills; gifted and talented enrichment; and cognitive training. Mumbling Marmot is owned by Yvonna Graham, M.Ed., who started the service in 2005. Initial consultations are free and scheduling is flexible.
