Chamber to host table-top expo Oct. 25
The Durango Chamber of Commerce will host Expo-dition, the 2013 table-top expo, from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 25 at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.
The cost is $7 for chamber members and guests. The expo will have more than 40 exhibitors, giveaways, games, prizes, food and drinks.
Mortgage myths to be discussed
The Durango Chamber of Commerce will offer a Lunch & Learn program about “Mortgage Myths” at noon Oct. 23 at First National Bank of Durango, 259 W. Ninth St.
The program will be presented by Julie Cooley, Jennifer Boykin and Teri Hansen of First National Bank of Durango. Topics will include: qualifying for a home loan, credit parameters, down-payment requirements, loan products and affordable housing. The cost is $10 for members and $20 for nonmembers. Reservations are required.

Julie Westendorff appointed to council
Colorado Counties Inc., a nonprofit association the purpose of which is to offer assistance to county commissioners, mayors and council members and to encourage counties to work together on common issues, has appointed La Plata County Commissioner Julie Westendorff as its representative on the Colorado Child Protection Ombudsman Advisory Council.
The council, under the auspices of the Colorado Department of Human Services, is tasked with developing rules of operation for the Child Protection Ombudsman program.
Westendorff was elected to the La Plata County Board of County Commissioners in November 2012. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia Law School, works with several law firms in the Durango area, and has been a prosecutor for the Southern Ute Indian Tribe and has worked as a Bayfield town judge. Before her position as commissioner, Westendorff was a real estate broker for Coldwell Banker Heritage House Realtors of Durango.

Terrie Troutman joins RE/MAX Pinnacle
Terrie Troutman has joined the real estate team at RE/MAX Pinnacle in Durango.
Formerly of Bayfield Realty, Troutman has been a Realtor since 2002 and holds the Realtor designation of Graduate Realtor Institute.
A native of Austin, Texas, she, her husband and dog, Sadie, live in Bayfield. The couple enjoys the mountains, jeeping, hiking and exploring on their ATVs. Troutman also volunteers at the La Plata County Humane Society and enjoys delivering Meals on Wheels to Bayfield residents.

La Plata Electric announces promotion
Justin Talbot has been promoted to manager of lines and services at La Plata Electric Association.
Born and raised in Bayfield, Talbot joined LPEA as a groundman in 1994 after studying at Colorado State University. Within a year, he was accepted into LPEA’s Apprentice Lineman program and journeyed out as a journeyman lineman in 1999. Talbot steps into an overall management position, overseeing LPEA’s line crews and superintendents in La Plata and Archuleta counties.
