Mark Dickmann counseling full-time

Mark Dickmann, who holds a master’s degree in social work and is a licensed clinical social worker, is now providing full-time mental health counseling.

Dickmann, who is a member of Affiliated Psychological Resources, has been serving the Durango area with on a part-time basis since 2008, along with his academic advising work at Fort Lewis College. Dickmann is now a network provider with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield and Medicare. Dickmann also is in network with Rocky Mountain Health Plans and CHP+, along with a number of local Employee Assistance Programs. Dickmann works with adults and adolescents, providing treatment for depression, anxiety, grief and loss, life transition, and relationship issues. Specialties include couple counseling and treatment for trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Sorrel Sky Gallery announces promotion

Sorrel Sky Gallery announces the promotion of Rose Ornella as jewelry sales manager for the Durango location.

Ornella has more than 30 years of arts retail experience working throughout the region. She will coordinate sales efforts with more than 35 artists and develop jewelry collections.

Sorrel Sky Gallery opened its second location in Santa Fe, New Mexico in June of 2014.

New law firm forms in Durango

Gail C. Harriss announces that Tina M. Martinez has become a partner in her law firm, and the firm has changed its name to Harriss & Martinez.

The firm will continue to represent individuals in workers’ compensation claims and Social Security disability claims.

Harriss has been representing injured workers and disabled individuals in Southwest Colorado for more than 27 years.

Martinez also will represent individuals in workers’ compensation and Social Security disability claims. She has been practicing law for more than eight years. Most recently, she has worked as a deputy district attorney in La Plata County.

Reynolds + Associates adds partner

Reynolds + Associates Architecture & Engineering, Durango and Pagosa Springs, is now Reynolds Ash + Associates, with Brad Ash joining the firm as a partner.

Ash, a Pagosa Springs native, received his graduate certification in design build from the University of Colorado at Denver, a Master’s Degree of Architecture from the University of Colorado at Denver in 2006, and a Bachelor’s Degree of Arts/Architecture from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 2003. Ash has been with the firm since 2006, and is a licensed architect in Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona. Ash has designed and managed projects from custom residential to large-scale commercial projects including the new City Hall and library in Alamosa.

Other recent additions to the firm include Heather Mace, office manager and CAD drafter in the Durango office, and Selena Hughes, CAD drafter in the Pagosa Office.

Durango to receive technical assistance

The New Mobility West initiative announced that four inter-mountain west communities have been selected to receive free technical assistance during the 2015 winter months. Durango was chosen as one of the recipient communities.

New Mobility West provides communities with the tools and resources necessary to become stronger, more prosperous places through building smarter transportation systems. The firm offers technical assistance to communities in this region looking to generate real, on-the-ground progress with targeted issues and opportunities at the nexus of transportation planning and community development. Recipient communities are selected through a competitive application process, and selected communities receive technical assistance at no charge.

KSUT hires executive director

KSUT has named Robert Franklin as its new executive director.

Franklin has more than 20 years of management experience with National Public Radio affiliated stations at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, Western Illinois University, Arkansas State University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, and other stations. An award-winning radio and documentary film producer, his career also includes teaching a variety of college media communications courses.

Upon his arrival on Monday, Franklin will work closely with the KSUT board and staff as the station continues planning and implementation of its capital campaign goals and strategic vision for the future.

HoldenArt raising funds on KickStarter

William Holden of HoldenArt has a KickStarter fundraising effort taking place through Feb. 2.

Holden is hoping to raise $120,000 to bring the Ultimate Travel Chess Set to market. With this money he will produce 3,000 chess sets where backers will need to pledge $40 to be rewarded with the new set. The KickStarter page, includes a video that shows the product, lists features, photos, and reasons to participate.

Strategic planning series available

The Southwest Colorado Small Business Development Center in conjunction with area business partners is sponsoring a Leading Edge Strategic Planning Series for new and experienced business owners and managers.

The 12 week course will begin on Jan. 28 and continue until April 15. The Business Management and Planning Course to Master Essential Skills for Starting, Managing and Growing Your Business Wisely is appropriate for all business types, including agriculture and nonprofits.

The cost is $300 for the entire course or $50 per session. Scholarships may be available. Classes will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. in Education Business Hall Room 110 at Fort Lewis College.
