PASCO Southwest Home Health, 555 Rivergate Lane, Suite B2-134, announces the addition of Michelle Kothe to its team.
Kothe is the new full-time marketing and community contact for the company.
PASCO/Southwest Home Health has offices in Montrose, Cortez and Durango, and has served eight counties for 13 years. The home health company is owned by Yvette Tanner, who has 24 years of experience in providing care to the elderly and disabled. Net zero-energy home building training offered
The Colorado Green Building Guild, a trade organization focused on advancing sustainable building in Colorado, has partnered with the Department of Energy to provide content on the business, marketing and technical strategies to successfully build net zero-energy ready homes in today’s housing market.
This builder-focused training session features multiple modules covering the business advantages of high-performance building, marketing to consumers, advanced building-system-design strategies and specifications, and gaining recognition through Energy Department Challenge Home. This 3½-hour course is eligible for American Institute of Architects Continuing Education Units. The guild and 4CORE will bring the training to Durango from 1 to 4:30 p.m. May 9 in the Community Room at Pine River Valley Bank, 1701 Main Ave. Guild members can attend for $25 and nonmembers for $50.

Applicants sought for Colorado creative team
Colorado’s inclusive branding initiative is accepting applications through Monday for the Making Colorado Creative Team, which will be a 10-person collective of the designers, copywriters, art directors and technologists.
The team will work directly with Gov. John Hickenlooper to help redefine how the world sees and hears about Colorado. Applicants will be evaluated based on their professional skill set, experience, creative point of view and personal passion for Colorado. The team will be selected May 14. Making Colorado also has launched a Facebook app at http://bit.ly/MakingCO to engage residents in the branding initiative and highlight the state’s economy. Through the app, all Coloradans will have the chance to describe what makes them a Coloradan, and responses will be compiled by the Making Colorado Creative Team. Making Colorado will give away Colorado-made prizes to participants each day through May 17.

Program director hired for STEM program
The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Internship Program of Southwest Colorado, which began in 2010, recently hired Elizabeth Silverstein as a part-time program director.
Silverstein will be overseen by the committee, which consists of Laura Shelton, assistant vice president at Alpine Bank; Donna Hanes, administrative assistant at the La Plata Economic Development Alliance; Jenny Stollar, business loan officer at the Region 9 Economic Development District; and Sarah Margoles, education manager at Durango Discovery Museum.
Silverstein’s responsibilities include grant writing, student outreach, school partnerships and business collaboration.

Durango Brewing Co. receives medals
Durango Brewing Co. announces that Durango Wheat Beer and Durango Golden Ale have been recognized with medals at the 2013 Denver International Beer Competition.
Winners were selected by a panel of 15 certified beer judges who tasted beers in the blind competition. Durango Wheat Beer was awarded a bronze medal in the American Wheat Beer category and Durango Golden Ale was recognized with a bronze in the Blonde Ale category. Durango Golden Ale also won a medal at the 2012 Colorado State Fair last August. Durango Brewing Co. recently added new fermentation tanks and increased production capacity by 35 percent.
