Steve Folk honored for project management
Steve Folk, P.E., of Bechtolt Engineering, will be honored today by the Colorado Department of Transportation and the Colorado Contractor’s Association in Denver with the 2013 Project Management Award for his performance on CDOT Project NH 2852-019, Monte Vista North.
Folk was chosen from numerous nominations statewide in the category of resurfacing projects between $3 million and $6 million. He was assisted on the management of the project by Kevin Albert and John Harrington of RockSol Consulting Group. CDOT’s management team consisted of David Valentinelli, P.E., resident engineer and Arthur Miller, P.E., project engineer/design engineer. The construction contractor on the project was APC Southern.
Folk is the construction-services manager of Bechtolt Engineering. Bechtolt has been offering construction management, transportation engineering, traffic engineering and construction surveying throughout western Colorado since 1996.

Human-resource bosses to meet Tuesday
The Durango Area Human Resource Managers luncheon will host Rocky Mountain Health Plan’s expert on health-care reform, Jodie Atchley, who will discuss this topic, including challenges and opportunities for employers, and regulations for employers in 2015 from noon to 1:15 p.m. Tuesday in the Strater Hotel’s Pullman Room, 699 Main Ave.
A brief presentation will be made by Karen Forest of the American Cancer Society about access to preventive health services in the community.
The cost is $16 for members and $21 for nonmembers, which includes lunch. Lunch will be served by Strater Hotel. Choices are: chicken salad croissant sandwich or southwest chicken cobb salad. Water district announces addition
La Plata Archuleta Water District announces the addition of Nora Miller.
Miller assumes administrative, customer service and other responsibilities. The district office is at 255 Ute Street in Ignacio. The office is generally open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Miller is available from 9:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

LPEA candidate forum to be held April 22
Eggs & Issues will feature a La Plata Electric Association candidates forum at 8 a.m. April 22 at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.
The breakfast will feature La Plata County candidates (Districts 2, 3 and 4) running for the LPEA board of directors. The moderated forum will provide attendees an opportunity to learn more about LPEA board candidates before the May election as well as ask questions.
