Business district to host get-together

The Durango Business Improvement District has added an additional BID Coffee & Conversation, an informal get-together, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Hampton Inn, 3777 Main Ave.

The program is an effort to gather new ideas from constituents, and learn of challenges, as well as allow BID Executive Director Tim Walsworth to get to know the people who make up the BID. No appointments are needed. BID constituents or members of the community are invited to drop in during the designated time period. As time permits, BID Community Relations Coordinator Pam Glasco may join the meetings.

Durango Tourism Office announces new hires

The Durango Area Tourism Office announces the addition of Grace Shepard and Maria Pradissitto to the tourism team.

Shepard, concierge and group sales, oversees concierge and small group requests as well as event planning and Welcome Center activities. She is an experienced business professional with more than 20 years in hospitality, tour services and retail sales. Shepard is involved in community projects with B.P.O.E. No. 507 where she has served as an officer and is on the board of trustees. To reach Shepard, email grace@durango.org.

Pradissitto, an international representative, focuses on growing international markets concentrating on international leads, sales efforts, tradeshows and designing a new international program. She has a background in international relations, tourism hospitality and marketing. Pradissitto arrived in Durango 1½ years ago from Italy after completing her master’s degree in international relations. She is fluent in Italian, English, Spanish and French. Downtown Durango cleaning event Friday

The “iClean My Durango” event will take place from 8:45 to 11:30 a.m. Friday in downtown Durango.

The event will feature free coffee, doughnuts, gloves and T-shirts while supplies last. Local businesses and organizations are asked to provide volunteers to help clean up downtown Durango. Volunteers can check in at the Durango Chamber of Commerce tent in the Strater Hotel parking lot next to Magpies at 8:45 a.m. to get assignments.

Arts Center to offer rental opportunities

Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave., announces it offers new facility rental opportunities.

The center is equipped to host a range of functions, including music, film, theater and performing-arts productions, board meetings workshops, receptions, parties and business engagements. The Barbara Conrad Gallery accommodates up to 100 depending on the current exhibit. The studio can accommodate up to 35. The theater accommodates up to 200. The Art Library accommodates up to 25 and is suited for receptions, board meetings or workshops. A visual tour of the spaces and rental pricing is available online.
