FireWise announces new county coordinator

FireWise of Southwest Colorado announces the appointment of Melody Walters as its new coordinator for La Plata County.

Walters will coordinate the FireWise Ambassador Program for the county. She replaces Pam Wilson, who will become executive director for FireWise.

Walters worked most recently at the Colorado Department of Transportation. She has a strong background in fire science, firefighting and emergency medicine, as well with volunteer and nonprofit organizations.

Karen Kostuch completes training

Karen Kostuch, owner of skin care and massage salon VisAvis, just completed training in Las Vegas for micro-needling, also known as collagen induction therapy, with a Dermapen.

The Dermapen is a micro-needling device that works to tighten, lift and rejuvenate the skin.

Lunch & Learn topic to focus on library

Durango Chamber of Commerce will host a Lunch & Learn called “We’re Not Your Grandma’s Library!” presented by Donna Arment, business librarian, at noon Wednesday at First National Bank of Durango, 259 W. Ninth St.

The cost is $10 for members and $20 for nonmembers. Topics will include what’s new at the library; how to increase customer base with databases; e-resources and how they can save time; business resources available for use; and a preview of upcoming workshops. Reservations are required.
