The La Plata County Assessor’s Office has announced that property owners can sign up for electronic Notices of Valuation, beginning today.

Skilled-nursing practice receives high rating
Four Corners Health Care Center, 2911 Junction, has achieved a 5 Star Quality Rating by The Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services.
The rating system was created to help consumers compare skilled-nursing facilities. Facility ratings are compared from these sources of data: health inspections, staffing and quality measures. A star rating is provided for each of the sources and the ratings are combined to calculate an overall rating. Current ratings are available from the Nursing Home Compare website.

Chamber to host international speaker
The Durango Chamber of Commerce, BP and First National Bank of Durango, will host international speaker and consultant Craig Zablocki from 8 to 10 a.m. May 16 at DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.
Zablocki’s program will incorporate practical tools to loosen up, become more creative and live in the moment.

Attractions on Main announces stylist
Attractions on Main, 835 Main Ave., No. 107 in the Main Mall, announces the addition of new stylist Ashley Harris.
Harris moved to Durango from Steamboat Springs. She offers college students 20 percent off haircuts and enjoys doing hair color and up-do’s. The salon is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Saturday.

Spring it On to run through May
The Durango Business Improvement District will begin “Spring it On!” its umbrella promotion designed to market events happening in and around downtown Durango throughout May.
Spring it On! 2013 will promote more than 50 events, some multi-day. The BID website, www.downtowndurango.org features a list of Spring it On! events, as well as a regularly updated listing of May sales, specials and giveaways at businesses in the district.
Preventing shoplifting sessions available
The Durango Business Improvement District, Durango Chamber of Commerce and the Durango Police Department will present free, informational sessions on prevention of and responding to shoplifting.
Two sessions will take place from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 14 and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. May 15 at Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave. Reservations are not required. The meetings will feature Sgt. Dave Peterson of the Durango Police Department in a 30-minute presentation. The remaining half of the session will be reserved for questions and answers from the audience.
