Submit Holidazzle events to BID
The Durango Business Improvement District is preparing for the ninth annual Holidazzle, the umbrella promotion designed to stimulate downtown shopping and attendance at all events happening in and around Durango during the holidays.
Organizations and businesses planning special events between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day are asked to submit event information to Pam Glasco at pamg@downtowndurango.org by Oct. 30. Additionally, the BID will reprise the Holidazzle Merchant Gift Drawing and prepare promotional materials in support of the effort. Merchants who will supply an in-store opportunity drawing during Holidazzle are asked to inform Glasco.

New mechanic joins team at bike shop
Mountain Bike Specialists announces Joey Arquette has been hired as a mechanic.
Arquette has 12 years experience in the bicycle industry and recently moved to Durango from Boulder City, Nev. Arquette attended the Specialized Bicycle Components University and is a Marzocchi certified technician. He also has a welding certification from the College of Southern Nevada.

Mac Ranch announces its new location
The Mac Ranch, an Apple authorized service provider, announces its new location in Room 5 of the Smiley Building, 1309 East Third Ave.
The Mac Ranch-Durango provides Apple computer repair, sales and technical services. The company opened in 2012, stemming from a top-rated sales and warranty center in Steamboat Springs, and now has three employees.
Owner David Sessions has been working on Apple and related technologies since 1991; technician and Apple sales professional Matt Gleason is a former employee of Apple in Chicago with extensive training experience; Operations Manager Joan Dombrowski is an Apple sales professional experienced in marketing and management.
The Mac Ranch is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and offers free tech tips from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays.
Gateway Reservations hires new travel expert
Gateway Reservations, Durango’s local central reservations service for lodging, activities and vacation packages, announces the addition of its new lead travel expert, Amy VanBuskirk.
VanBuskirk graduated from the University of West Georgia and earned a degree in English with a certification in secondary education. She moved to Durango in 2001 and brings years of diversified business administration, sales and teaching experience to Gateway Reservations.

Durango Growth names new officers
Durango Growth Organization announces leadership role changes for the upcoming year.
The effective date for these changes is Nov. 5.
For the upcoming year, Erin Tanner and Julie Gwyther will be president and vice president, respectively.
The supporting roles in the group include but are not limited to: Information, “Dare to DGO,” public relations, orientation and Visitor’s Day. These roles and other supporting roles are filled by every member.
The organization is an education- and relationship-based networking group with like-minded people who love business, people and seeing each other grow and achieve results.
Local business owners and employees are invited to the monthly Visitor’s Day at noon the last Tuesday of each month at Pine River Valley Bank, 17th Street and Main Avenue. This is an opportunity to meet member businesses and view a presentation given by a local business leader.
