Strater Hotel to host open house Thursday
The Strater Hotel will host its annual open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at 699 Main Ave.
There will be hotel and history tours, light hors doeuvres, live music and the unveiling of this years dedications of 11 rooms.

Local companies named finalists
Airborne Media Group, Chinook Medical Gear, Ecosphere Environmental Services, Freenotes Harmony Park, all based in Durango, and SkyWerx Industries from Pagosa Springs were named as 2013 Colorado Companies to Watch Finalists.
Each of these companies was honored April 3 at the Colorado Companies to Watch Finalist Reception hosted at the Governors Mansion. Fifty of the finalists will be selected as the 2013 Colorado Companies to Watch and recognized June 28 at the Colorado Companies to Watch Gala Awards Dinner in Denver.

Vectra Bank opens new branch
Vectra Bank Colorado has opened a new branch south of downtown Durango at 1201 Escalante Drive.
The new branch, in addition to the recent move to 890 Camino del Rio, provides clients better access to Vectras line of personal and commercial banking products. The full-service branch also features a three-lane drive-up, ATM, night deposit drop, business and mortgage -lending and treasury-management services.
The lobby is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. The drive-up is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays; and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. The banks original location at 1101 East Second Ave. is closed.

Financial series to be offered
The Durango Chamber of Commerce and Wells Fargo Bank will present a three-part financial series from 8 to 9:15 a.m. April 30, May 7 and 14 at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
The series will be led by Sidny Zink, a shareholder and partner with the accounting firm FredrickZink & Associates. The series is designed to help small-business owners who dont have a certified public accountant on staff to gain a solid understanding of their finances.
Topics will include: income statements, balance sheets, working capital, cash flow, accrual vs. cash accounting, debt to worth and other key ratios, tax implications and considerations, and red flags on credit and more. There will be time after each session for one-on-one time with CPAs and bankers to discuss issues specific to a business.
The cost is $50 for members and $75 for nonmembers and includes coffee and snacks.
