Rylee Mac’s Famous Foods announces its opening at 1644 County Road 203.
The food truck will serve breakfast and lunch, including its famous green chile, Sanoran Dogs and smoked brisket. The business will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday and is owned by Terri D. Steinberg.
Durango Chamber to host Tuesday Talk
The Durango Chamber of Commerce will host Tuesday Talk at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday at Carver Brewing Co., 1022 Main Ave.

Animas Museum welcomes director
The La Plata County Historical Society announces the appointment of M. Sherry Bowman as the new executive director of the Animas Museum, effective Sunday.
Bowman replaces Carolyn Bowra who is retiring.
She formerly held a variety of leadership positions in the automotive industry for more than 30 years. Bowman and her husband recently made Durango their permanent home after visiting family living in the area for the past 16 years. She has been involved in a number of volunteer organizations over the years and was recently appointed to the La Plata Conservation District board of directors.
As director of the Animas Museum, Bowman will focus on strengthening the financials of the nonprofit organization to ensure continued community service.

La Plata Electric hires executive assistant
Charis Charistopoulos has been named executive assistant at La Plata Electric Association, reporting directly to LPEA CEO Mike Dreyspring.
Charistopoulos comes to LPEA from the La Plata County Economic Development Alliance, where she served in an administrative capacity for two years, working with Executive Director Roger Zalternaitis and the alliance board of directors.
A graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington with a double major of criminal justice and African American studies, Charistopoulos enjoys a varied professional background including positions in the restaurant, retail and construction industries. Shortly after arriving in Durango 12 years ago, she also became actively involved, donating her time as a volunteer with the Durango Independent Film Festival. For nearly the past eight years, she has served as volunteer coordinator for the film festival.

La Plata Electric announces additions
La Plata Electric Association has announced additions to its operations department, welcoming Dusti Riggs as apprentice despatcher and Trey Buffalo as equipment operator.
Riggs, who has served as a meter-reader collector for LPEA since 2006, has entered the two-year intensive apprentice dispatcher program. Riggs is part of the dispatch team which oversees LPEA’s system operations.
Having worked in construction with heavy equipment for almost eight years, new Equipment Operator Trey Buffalo comes to LPEA from Crossfire LLC, provider of oil-and-gas construction services.
Born and raised in Salida, he also is an auctioneer and avid rodeo team roper.
As equipment operator, Buffalo works with the line crews in La Plata County.

Ignacio librarian receives award
Marcia Vining, librarian at the Ignacio Community Library, was awarded the “Excellence in Youth Services” award on Oct. 23 at the annual Colorado Association of Libraries conference in Loveland.
The award celebrates the importance of offering quality library services to children and teens by recognizing an individual, group, library or organization that directly or indirectly serves patrons ages birth to 18 in a way that goes beyond offering basic, traditional library services.
Vining coordinates a program to bring a Colorado author to visit the Ignacio Middle School. She also coordinates a summer reading program, which under Vining’s direction has doubled in participants. She also coordinates three adult book clubs, a new teen book club and Inklings, a book club for second- and third-graders.
Vining is a trained Motheread facilitator and participates in outreach to the Southern Ute Detention Center.
She coordinates the Family Reading Circles program that brings families to the library to eat together and study children’s literature.
Vining is the first person in the state of Colorado to win the “Excellence in Youth Services” award.
Resource Connect announces opening
Resource Connect is a new training and technical-assistance program that is dedicated to providing learning experiences to facilitate the fulfillment of organizational missions and goals that will result in quality staff experiences and quality services to clients in the nonprofit and human-services sector.
Training is provided through workshops and in-house staff training or one-on-one assistance. Some topics include effectively managing nonprofits, leadership skills for nonprofits, administering human-services programs, program design and planning, building better partnerships with boards and executive staff, cultural competency, conflict management and program sustainability.
Resource Connect is owned by Phyllis Ceglia. Ceglia has both undergraduate and graduate degrees in social work.
She has served as an adjunct professor in social work administration and has administered programs for tribes in New Mexico and Colorado.
