First Southwest Bank hires new leaders

Kent Curtis, CEO of First Southwest Bank, announced the addition of Paul Broderick to the bank’s senior lending team as senior vice president/commercial lender.

Broderick will manage business development and loan-account relationships for the bank’s Durango marketplace. Before joining First Southwest Bank, Broderick was vice president/business banking officer at First National Bank of Durango.

Curtis also announced the recent hiring of Steve Emrich to the bank’s lending team as vice president/commercial lender.

Emrich, too, will manage business development and loan-account relationships for the bank’s Durango marketplace. Before joining First Southwest Bank, Emrich was vice president/business banking officer at First National Bank of Durango for more than 15 years and previously worked for the Bank of Colorado.

Pediatric Partners announces hire

Pediatric Partners of the Southwest announced the addition of board-certified pediatric physician assistant Savannah Porter.

Porter completed her undergraduate degree in molecular biology at the University of Colorado and her Masters of physician assistant studies in child health at the University of Colorado-Denver, where she was the recipient of the Colorado Rural Health Professions Scholarship.

LPEA foundation donates to relief fund

The La Plata Electric Association Round Up Foundation granted $4,000 to the Community Emergency Relief Fund organized by the Durango Business Improvement District and the Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado to assist employees facing economic hardship directly related to the Animas River contamination and closure.

The LPEA Round Up Foundation is an independent foundation that provides grants to nonprofit organizations in La Plata and Archuleta counties. It is funded when co-op members round up their LPEA electric bills to the next higher dollar.

The relief fund has been organized to provide affected employees with short-term financial assistance.

To donate directly to the fund, checks may be made payable to “Community Foundation-Community Emergency Relief Fund” and mailed to the Foundation at P.O. Box 1673, Durango, CO 81302. Deposits also may be made directly at the Bank of the San Juans, and credit-card donations may be made at www.swcommunityfoundation.org.

Individuals affected by the river contamination/closure who need assistance are asked to fill out an application, available on the Community Foundation and the BID websites (www.swcommunityfoundation.org and www.downtowndurango.org) and at the BID office, 850½ Main Ave., Suite 2.

Aspen Design Studio welcomes designer

Aspen Design Studio welcomed Erin White Sinberg as a kitchen and bathroom designer.

White Sinberg received her bachelor’s degree in marketing in 1997 from Fort Lewis College. Immediately after graduating, White Sinberg started working in the building industry with Pozzi Southwest, followed by Building Specialties Store, Fenestra Window & Door and Colorado Fenestra.

Chamber to host its Lunch & Learn

The Durango Chamber of Commerce will host Lunch & Learn at noon Wednesday in the multi-purpose room of La Plata Electric Association, 45 Stewart St.

The presentation will be “Data Security, Productivity, Mobility and Cost-Control in Business Technology Today” by CellularOne. Participants will learn the basics about using the Cloud and get answers about data security and businesses.

The cost is $10 for chamber members and $20 for nonmembers. Reservations are required.

Stilwell Feet, P.C. announces opening

Stilwell Feet, P.C. announced its opening at 1032 Main Ave.

The business is owned by Dan Stilwell, a surgically trained podiatrist. Stilwell is a holistic podiatrist working as part of Surya Health & Wellbeing. The practice offers a holistic, group approach to foot care and rehabilitation.

Stilwell performed and completed a three-year reconstructive rear foot/ankle residency in Salt Lake, Utah, in June, 2015.

Stilwell provides an alternative approach to foot care, with an emphasis on gait analysis, muscle testing and strengthening, pole walking and barefoot orthotic.

New bank to host a ground-breaking

Four Corners Community Bank recently purchased land in Durango, with plans to build a new branch.

The lot of the former Mama’s Boy Italian restaurant is located at 27th and Main Avenue, across from the Durango Community Recreation Center. The public is welcome to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the new branch at 2 p.m. Thursday at 2659 Main Ave.

Construction on the new branch is underway with plans to open in the first quarter of 2016.

Features of the new Durango location will include an open floorplan, walk-up service stations, and cross-trained staff for a modern and full-service approach. Lenders also will be staffed full-time to help the community with borrowing needs.

The Durango branch will be Four Corners Community Bank’s seventh location; there are currently two in Cortez, three in Farmington and one in Aztec.
