Four Corners OB/GYN adds providers

Four Corners OB/GYN, 1 Mercado St., Suite 105, announces the addition of new providers Sara Whitehead and Lauren Melancon.

Whitehead earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Colorado Boulder and her master’s degree in physician assistant studies at Touro University in Henderson, Nevada. She enjoyed providing care to women of all ages in family medicine at a community health clinic and an internal medicine clinic in Salt Lake City before she returned to her hometown, Durango.

Melancon is a certified family nurse practitioner. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana. Melancon first worked at the local state charity hospital as a labor-and delivery registered nurse. She then pursued and earned her Master of Science in Nursing at Loyola University in New Orleans. Her practice began in rural family medicine in northeast Colorado.

Durango KOA becomes KOA Holiday

The Durango KOA has recently become a KOA Holiday, one of three new descriptive brands created to help campers select the right campground for their camping needs.

Each KOA Holiday features full-service RV sites and KOA Deluxe Cabins with bathrooms. Open May 1 through Oct. 15, the Durango KOA offers pull-through and back-in RV sites with both full and partial hookups. The Deluxe Cabins sleep between four and six and offer a full bathroom and kitchenette. Rustic Cabins, as well as tent sites, also are available. Campground amenities include a heated swimming pool, free Wi-Fi, miniature golf and two dog parks.

LPEA board officers announced

La Plata Electric Association board members re-elected Michael Rendon by acclamation to serve as 2015-2016 president.

Tom Compton was elected as vice president, with Jeff Berman retaining his office as secretary. Newly elected director Karen Barger was elected as treasurer by acclamation. Collectively, the four make up the board’s Executive Committee.

Joe Wheeling will maintain his seat on the Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association board, and Berman and Bob Formwalt will continue as the delegates for the Colorado Rural Electric Association and Western United boards, respectively. Newly elected director Kohler McInnis and Bob Lynch will sit on the LPEA Round Up Foundation board, and Jack Turner will represent LPEA on the 4CORE, the Four Corners Office for Resource Efficiency.

Kristiana Elite joins Keller Williams

Keller Williams Realty Southwest Associates welcomes Realtor Kristiana Elite.

Prior to joining Keller Williams Realty, Elite worked for the Colorado Department of Parks and Wildlife, assisting the real estate specialists with acquisitions and dispositions of public lands. In addition to working for the state, Elite was employed as a GIS Specialist for the U.S. Geological Survey, where she helped to map the surface-water features of the nation. She also has worked for an in-fill and affordable-housing developer in Denver and she holds a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning and a Bachelor’s Degree in Cultural Anthropology.

Janet Curry awarded certification

Janet Curry, licensed professional counselor, was awarded certification from University of Massachusetts Medical School’s Center for Mindfulness.
