The Durango Business Improvement District will present and promote several programs and projects during the summer to support the livelihood of local businesses for the tourist season:
The BID will partner with Durango Chamber of Commerce to offer the downtown ambassador program. Ambassadors will work daily shifts in June, July and August downtown Durango to greet visitors and provide information about the community.The BID will partner with Durango Chamber of Commerce and the City of Durango to hold the annual Downtown Clean Day on the Friday of Memorial Day weekend, May 26. The volunteer project will recruit approximately 100 people from local businesses, clubs and organizations to clean the downtown area. To sign up, call 375-5068.The BID purchased a gum-removal machine to help keep sidewalks clean, and is currently hiring people to use it each morning to remove gum from all blocks that face downtown by Memorial Day weekend.
