The 2025 Be Local Coupon Book is hot off the press and available around town at many of the locally owned independent businesses that are members of Local First, La Plata County’s independent business alliance.
The book this year features over 260 local, independent businesses; features 18 local member stories; and includes 150 coupons with over $4,000 in savings always in time for the holidays, and in support of La Plata County’s local businesses and community.
One of the more interesting coupons is $5 off any tour with Horsefly History Tours, a local woman-owned business offering guided tours of our local his- and her-story. Arete Mortgage is back with a six-figure “free” bike (smiley face) when one closes on a home purchase or refinance. And, the Payroll Department is back, too, with a $5 donation to one of three nonprofits: Manna, In the Weeds or The Powerhouse.
Perhaps the most characteristically Durango comes from Carver Brewing Co. offering a “Buy a stranger a beer and get one free” coupon. The 2025 coupon book launch party, for members and those individuals or businesses interested in becoming members, takes place from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Union Social House.
