Camino del Rio traffic delays expected near new hotel

Lane restrictions will begin Dec. 2
Beginning Dec. 2, Durango commuters should expect delays on Camino del Rio near Town Plaza. Traffic lanes will be narrowed to accommodate construction of the new hotel at 1111 Camino del Rio.

Beginning Dec. 2, Durango commuters should expect delays on Camino del Rio near Town Plaza as lanes are limited to meet the needs of construction at the new hotel being built at 1111 Camino del Rio.

The developer of the hotel is coordinating with the city and the Colorado Department of Transportation to limit lanes of traffic for construction of new water and sewer utility connections.

Lane closures will also allow reconfiguration of the entrance and access to Natural Grocers.

Business access will be maintained throughout the construction activity during normal business hours.

The new connections and access changes will be built in three phases during several weeks in December, and lane closures will shift as the phases progress.

Work is expected to continue through mid-January and will include day and nighttime work, with lane shifts in place throughout the project.

Commuters are encouraged to use caution when driving in the area or avoid the area and use detours if possible.

For more information about the 1111 Camino hotel project, call the city of Durango Community Development Department at 375-4850 or CDOT at 385-1423.
