Outside money for local elections has finally reared its ugly head in La Plata County, with $50,000 from Conservation Colorado to defeat the recall of Gwen Lachelt.
With a 10 to 1 spending advantage, she dodged the bullet by 36 votes!
If you are to believe the public relations from Conservation Colorado, ultra-liberal California hedge funder Tom Steyer sent in a check with a sticky on it saying, “Don’t use any of this money for the ‘Decline to sign’ campaign in La Plata County.”
The district attorney race in San Diego County has an unknown progressive running with the backing of George Soros to the tune of $1.5 million!
In the next couple of months, we’re going to see hundreds of thousands of dollars from across the country pouring into the congressional race to either support or defeat Scott Tipton. The majority will come from progressives trying to take over Congress.
I think that Gwen owes us an apology for opening this can of worms on a local level.
