Cancer Coalition thankful for volunteers

I deeply appreciate and want to say thank you to the volunteers of the Cancer Coalition of Southwest Colorado for stepping up to the plate and maintaining the Cancer Resource Center during this time of COVID-19 isolation.

While the American Cancer Society Resource Centers closed across the country and many of their services dropped, our local office was able to continue to operate because of these committed CCSWC volunteers. There may have been a decrease in hours of operation and services provided, but this dedicated group has continued to serve cancer patients and their families. They offer a listening ear, free wigs, hats, scarfs, breast prosthetics, cancer information, financial aid and help with local lodging while in cancer treatment.

The Cancer Resource Center is located at 65 Mercado St, Durango, Room 233. Call (403) 0086 to set up an appointment to meet with a volunteer Monday to Friday.

With a grateful heart,

Carol McGuire, president, CCSWC
